Our retreat location is in approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes from the San Jose airport. We are between Dominical and Ojochal. Close to the beaches, waterfalls, surf town of Dominical and the whale's tale of Uvita.
Uvita is a small coastal village in southern Costa Rica, known for its natural beauty, including the "Whale's Tail" sandbar. It's a destination for nature lovers, offering whale watching, waterfalls, and rainforest hikes or just relaxing on the beach.
Dominical Beach is located on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast. It's a renowned surf spot known for its consistent, powerful waves, attracting experienced surfers, though nearby calmer areas are best for beginners, with surf classes available right on the beach. This laid-back, small town offers a unique "hippie" vibe with jungle backdrops, restaurants, yoga studios, and shops, alongside opportunities for hiking (like Nauyaca Falls), horseback riding, and exploring the lush surroundings, making it great for relaxation, sunsets, and adventure.
Costa Rica is known for waterfalls everywhere! While you are here visiting you will definitely see a few in person. Feel free to jump in and take a swim.
Wildlife is everywhere in Costa rica. Here we always see White face monkeys, Howler monkeys, Sloths, Toucans, Macaws, Coatis, Pacas, Leafcutter ants, butterflies and much much more. It's amazing to see these animals in person and not just on television or books.
You are definitely going to want to sample all of the tropical fruits as possible. The variety of fruits here are amazing but even some of the simpler fruits like pineapples taste much sweeter here since they ripen here in the country. There are plenty of fruit stands around and some serve ice cold coconuts known as "Pipa Fira".
Did you ever want to try surfing? Now may be the time while visiting Costa rica. There are surfing classes up and down the coast. Most of the time it takes about an hour or so before you're up and surfing. Feel the power and the energy of the ocean as it propels you across the shoreline and also getting a workout from paddling at the same time.
We will be sure to take you to a few local restaurants to experience Costa Rica's food. There are a lot of restaurants that are in an outdoor patio-like setting. They called them "Sodas". It's all laid back dining with the "Pura Vida" vibe which means "Pure Life". Sometimes, the wildlife runs right up to your dinner table to take a small sample.
Manuel Antonio is a national park that's just over an hour away from our location. It's filled with all types of wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, tropical birds, leaf cutter ants and much more. This lush jungle has walkways and tour guides to make sure you don't miss anything. It is well worth the time spent and the amount of wildlife and experience you get.
We can take you to some of the neighborhoods that are deep into the jungle but it can be a rough ride. A lot of the roads through here are dirt with some potholes, narrow bridges with no guardrails and sometimes you'll get to drive right through the river. It's definitely "raw living" and you will appreciate the paved roads in your hometown ;)
